When our intern for the summer of 2011 arrived in early June, she was immediately thrown into the fire of ministry to military students. In these couple of articles I have asked her to write what she would like to share. Here are her thoughts
Never having been around a full-blown military community before, I came into this summer not fully knowing what to expect. I had been onto the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland: rode around in humvees, seen a tank ride up a 60-degree incline, walked around in bulletproof gear. I had seen the rough and tumble, the cool stuff, about Army life. I had also seen military brats get to be kids at Operation Purple Camp, where they got to experience sailing, ropes courses and muck wars. But, before I came here to Garmisch, I had never gotten to see the military family life, the true heart of it all.
